TRANSCRIPT

GEORGE (narrating): As a child, I wanted to be a gumshoe – so as an adult, I became a journalist. The premonitions tugged at me, and I investigated things no one else took seriously. It wasn't long before I ruined my reputation, so I took my high school friend's advice and joined The Doubter's Journal. I was free to investigate anything I chose – even if I had to work other odd jobs to make ends meet.

I told no one about the stranger things I found, or about my power. Not even Steve. He’s so diehard about exposing the truth, he’d crack his own best friend’s head open to do it.

The things I found while working at The Doubter gave me hints about what was possible. I began experimenting with my power – and my power grew. Premonitions lead to other forms of ESP. I could sense other minds. Sensing minds lead to reading them – ESP to telepathy. Telepathy lead to the ability to trick the senses, cloud memories, and even influence behavior. In self-defense, of course – or to assist with an investigation.

PEOPLE in CROWD (thinking): Does she really love me? --- I hope no one suspects what I did... --- Did I leave the stove on? --- Does he really love me? --- Look at all these sheep, not like me...

GEORGE (narrating): My mental abilities eventually lead me to realize I could influence the physical world as well. Telekinesis. Like lucid dreaming while still awake. Dream it moves – it moves.

My power was weak then, but my skill was greater than most. The premonitions helped my training – I could guide my efforts based on visions of my own future.
