TRANSCRIPT

GEORGE: You think there's more to it?

STEVE: Hell yes! They're covering up the link between their chemicals and the dead frogs. Actually suppressing the research. Also I think they must have paid off someone from the Historical Society to get at those landmarks. Maybe there's even something at one of those sites they don't want people to find.

GEORGE: Conspiracy implies intelligence. Don't count on a conspiracy as an explanation when ignorance or incompetence will suffice.

STEVE: Ah yes, Hanlon’s razor – “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.” I believe in Murphy. I believe in Finagle. But that Hanlon… I don’t buy it. Malice is at least as universal as stupidity.

GEORGE: You have a point. But be careful when you confront the work crew. People like having jobs, no matter how malicious their employer is. You can fix the problem without pissing off some teamsters.

STEVE: Someone's got to tell them the truth about their work. They'll be better people for it.

GEORGE: I wouldn't want to open that can of worms.

STEVE: The can is open. It's time to go fishing.

GEORGE (narrating): That was the last time I saw Steve for over 4 years.
