The Kalem Society

You may have noticed that this is comic #5, not comic #4. There was a splash page bonus update yesterday. Hit the back button and check it out.
TRANSCRIPT
QUETZAL: I'm almost done with the ritual, and then the animating force will be inert, but I don't think that will stop the zombies that are already here.
BALDRIC: It won't stop them, Quetzal, or you don't know?
QUETZAL: I'm saying that we shouldn't count on it. I see no reason why it should work that way. The cursed one and I are in disagreement.
GEIST (mindlink): My zombies are independent entities. Once I create them, they obey me for a little while - out of gratitude - but eventually gain enough sense of self that they don't need me anymore. This amateur's creations are mere puppets. All Quetzal has to do is cut the strings.
QUETZAL: You're being arrogant again and underestimating our opponent.
LAMAR: And let's not even get into how you're exaggerating the cognitive capacity and emotional range of your zombies.
QUETZAL: This obelisk is a source of otherworldly energies. You can't accurately predict what will happen because you don't understand his relationship with this power source. The thing you have to remember is...
BALDRIC: You two figure it out already - and make it quick. As commanding officer, what am I supposed to do when all my mystical advisors tell me something different, huh?
BALDRIC: Jarovit, you're a spirit thingy, say something.
GEORGE (thought): Can't they see that tactically it doesn't matter?
